Filing an objection
Are you not in agreement with a local authority decision? This could be a decision about a permit, income support or facilities under the Social Support Act or Jeugdhulp (youth services). Submit an objection. Do so within six weeks of the local authority’s decision. Is it about local taxes? Go to page Objecting to local taxes.
Are you unwilling or unable to file an objection online?
You can file your objection by letter. Send your letter of objection to:

What must your letter of objection contain?
- Your name, address, telephone number and email address.
- The date.
- The decision you are objecting to.
- The reference of the decision you are objecting to.
- The reason for the objection.
- If someone else files an objection on your behalf, you will need to enclose a written authorisation that you have signed.
When will a decision follow?
You will receive a letter within 12 weeks. This is counted from the day on which the time for filing the objection expired. This can be extended once for 6 weeks.
Not in agreement with the decision?
In that case, you can file an Appeal within six weeks. The letter explains how and where you can lodge your appeal. A charge will be made for this.
You can decide to postpone or cancel your appeal
Do you want prevent the local authority from implementing a decision you have objected to? In that case you can apply for an interim injunction from the court’s preliminary relief judge. This is only possible in urgent cases and a charge is made. It is up to the judge to decide whether the decision will be postponed or stopped.

- There is no charge for filing an appeal or its processing.
- A court registry fee is payable for submitting an application for an injunctive relief.
