Compulsory education
Between the ages of 5 and 16, you are subject to compulsory education. Between the age of 16 and 18 you are subject to a basic qualification requirement. Under some circumstances you may be exempted (granted leave) from compulsory education. This is always by way of an exception. For example, for a funeral, wedding, or moving house. It could be that you are unable to go to school for physical or psychological reasons. In that case, parents can apply to the school attendance officer for an exemption.
