Conditions

  • Your business is registered at the address for which you are applying for a licence or exemption.
  • Parking restrictions apply in the area where your business is located. For example, through paid parking, permit holder parking or a blue zone.
  • The car for which you are applying for a licence is registered in the company’s name. It is also sufficient for you to present a lease contract or a statement from the employer.
  • Parking on your company’s own premises is not possible.
  • You can prove that you need the car to do your job.

The following additional rules apply

  • A maximum of 2 parking permits will be issued per address.
  • You will not be granted a parking permit for commuting.
  • Loading and unloading is allowed, if you follow the rules.
  • A parking permit or parking exemption is valid from the time of application or renewal, until 31 December of that year.
  • You must renew your licence or exemption every year. The local authority will send you a letter about this.

When you will receive the permit or exemption

Not immediately. We will assess your application. We will let you know within 2 working days whether you will receive a permit or exemption.

Change or cancel

A permit or exemption is valid for 1 license plate. Has your car been sold, or are you temporarily driving a loan car? Cancel or amend your licence or exemption.

Send an e-mail to parkeren@leeuwarden.nl. You can also write a letter or apply in person at the Town Hall.

What to enclose?

A copy of your new registration certificate. Or ask for a statement from the garage, for example. This proves that you are the temporary user of this car.

Overpayment of parking tax

If the amount exceeds €6.00, you will be refunded. Complete the Refund Form (PDF, 96.11 KB) and request a refund of the overpaid parking tax. Do not use this form to cancel your licence.

Relocation of your company

And do you also want to use the licence at the new address? Send a relocation notice to parkeren@leeuwarden.nl. Enclose a copy of your registration with the Chamber of Commerce at the new address.

Loading and unloading in Leeuwarden city centre

This is allowed within window hours. Window hours are Monday to Friday between 7.30 am and midday. The map of window hours shows the streets marked in yellow and red where window hours apply.

Loading and unloading in the low-traffic area

This is allowed without an entry exemption during window hours. Outside these times, you may only enter the area with an entry exemption. You are not allowed to park in the area. Not even with an entry exemption.

Temporary works in the city centre?

Do you need to be in the city of Leeuwarden temporarily with your car for work? In an area with a parking restriction? For example, for permit holders, paid parking or the blue zone. Apply online for a temporary parking permit or parking exemption. You can do this using the button at the top of this page. Your application is valid for one or more days.

Work in the low-traffic area outside window hours
