Purchasing public land (fragmented (municipal) plots)
Sometimes it is possible to purchase a piece of public land. The local authority refers to these pieces of land as ‘fragmented (municipal) plots’.
What are fragmented (municipal) plots?
Fragmented (municipal) plots are public space that is not of public interest.
When can I purchase fragmented (municipal) plots?
You can purchase fragmented (municipal) plots if:
- You own the adjacent plot.
- The piece of green space is not of public interest.
- The local authority can still maintain the surrounding green space.
- There are no important cables, pipes or sewers in the ground.
When will I know if my application has been approved?
The local authority must generally decide on your application within 8 weeks.
How to apply?
Fragmented (municipal) plots can be purchased in the following ways:
- Online using your DigiD.
- Download and complete the form Public Land Purchases / Fragmented greenery plots form (PDF, 102.15 KB). Send the form to the City of Leeuwarden. You can also hand it in at the Town Hall.
Charges
Fragmented plots that retain the designation ‘greenery’: € 67 per m2. Added to this are the costs for notarial settlement and the land registry.
