Wergeasterdyk Goutum

The Wergeasterdyk is being redeveloped. From the Sudertrimsdieldyk to the junction at Buorren. Wergeasterdyk used to be a through road to Leeuwarden. Much has changed in recent years. The road is now used very differently. Cycling and walking have become common activities on the Wergeasterdyk. That is why the road is now being modified.

More space for cyclists

There will be more space for cyclists and pedestrians on the Wergeasterdyk:

broad cycle path
road surface
road made narrower
broader kerb
cars are guests

At the junction with the Buorren there will be a bicycle roundabout. There will be pedestrian crossings for safe crossing.

Planning

Liander has completed its work. The local authority has now commissioned a contractor for the work, which will start after the building sector holiday. The work on the bicycle street must be completed by December 2024 at the latest.
