Together, let’s reuse, recycle and keep the neighbourhood clean!
Starting in January, residents of Heechterp-Schieringen, Vrijheidswijk, Bilgaard, Binnenstad and Oud-Oost can dispose of bulk waste and reusable items close to home. Omrin will place a container in these neighbourhoods every two weeks. This is a great opportunity to work together to make the area cleaner, tidier and more liveable!
Why are we doing this?
Dumped bulk waste causes pollution and unsafe situations. By providing containers in the neighbourhood, we aim to reduce the amount of illegally dumped waste.
What can you bring?
You may drop off:
broken furniture and old appliances.
Reusable items
Good items can be given a second life. Neighbours are welcome to take these for free.
You may NOT drop off:
Chemical waste, household waste, food scraps or garden waste.
Where will the container be located?
- Heechterp-Schieringen – In the middle of Cederstraat, Esdoornstraat and Dennenstraat.
- Binnenring – Amelandsdwinger, in front of Prins Frederikkazerne (near the underground waste container).
- Vrijheidswijk – Gebroeders Wierdastraat.
- Bilgaard – Corner of Acaciastraat/Beukenstraat.
- De Kei – Near house number 390 (close to the parking spaces by the entrance).
- Vlietzone – Menno van Coehoornstraat, near Zuidvliet.

Clear out items you no longer use and contribute to a cleaner neighbourhood. This pilot project will run for one year. After that, the effectiveness of the neighbourhood containers will be evaluated and decisions will be made about the next steps. Help out by sharing this information with your neighbours. The pilot project is supported by Programma Leeuwarden Oost (the Leeuwarden East Programme).
