Grave covering maintenance
Standard maintenance
When you start paying grave fees for a new private grave, you automatically contribute to the maintenance of the cemetery. You also pay for the maintenance of any grave covering through the grave rights. You also contribute to maintenance when you renew the grave rights for an existing private grave. Maintenance is arranged from the old end date to the new end date.
Non-standard maintenance
For some graves, you do not pay for the maintenance of the cemetery and the grave covering through the grave rights. This applies to graves previously issued for an indefinite period at the Noorderbegraafplaats and Huizumerbegraafplaats. Also at the cemeteries in Grou, Jirnsum, Reduzum, Warten and Wergea, you do not always automatically pay for maintenance through the grave rights. This applies to graves for which a new term of grave rights has not yet started after 1 January 2014. With these graves, you pay a separate maintenance fee.
