Residential subdivision or house conversion

An environmental permit is required for residential subdivision or house conversion. An environmental permit will only be granted if the application meets the criteria set out in the environmental plan ‘Leeuwarden – Partial revision residential separation and residential care functions’. These criteria are:

  • Residential subdivision and/or house conversion (regardless of whether this concerns a dwelling for a person providing or requiring informal care) is permitted with an environmental permit, provided that:
    • this is in line with the local housing policy
    • current regional housing agreements are met when there is an increase in the number of homes
    • and no disproportionate harm is done to:
      • the street and building scene
      • the domestic situation
      • road safety
      • the parking situation
      • social safety
      • cultural-historical values
      • the possibilities for use of adjoining land and
    • If there is a combination with building, an environmental permit as referred to in Article 4(2) may also be granted.
