Innovation Fund grant scheme
The City of Leeuwarden is working towards a sustainable and strong economy. This helps residents to enjoy a better life and gain more opportunities. The Innovation Fund can help with this. By providing grants, the Innovation Fund helps companies, as well as knowledge institutions, e.g. universities of applied sciences, to develop new products and services.
Who is the scheme intended for?
The scheme is for entrepreneurs and knowledge institutions developing an innovative product or process. Entrepreneurs and knowledge institutions must be registered in the City of Leeuwarden at the time of application, or within 6 months of application.
For what purpose can you use the scheme?
The scheme targets new projects in the field of the circular economy, water technology, renewable energy, green innovation in the agro/food chain and/or general innovation. Examples include digitalisation. The project should also focus on developing a new product, service or process or innovate existing ones.
How does it work?
- Contact the City of Leeuwarden before submitting the application. We will schedule an interview with you.
- Attach a detailed project plan to your application. Both forms must be fully completed, detailed and signed. Applications can be submitted until December 2026 and will be considered in order of receipt.
Conditions and grant amount
- You must be registered in the City of Leeuwarden at the time of application, or within 6 months of the application.
- You must discuss the matter with the City of Leeuwarden before making an application.
- The project is implemented in the City of Leeuwarden.
- The project must be completed within one year of receiving the grant.
Grant amount
- A maximum of 40% of the total cost of a project for which a grant can be issued will be awarded as a grant.
- The minimum cost for which a grant can be issued must be at least €12,500.
- A maximum grant of €25,000 per application will be provided.
- The scheme can be paid out as a one-off contribution towards costs.
