About the project

The SCEPA project (Scaling up the Energy Poverty Approach) is a collaboration between eight European partners, including the City of Leeuwarden. SCEPA receives a grant from the European Regional Development Fund, provided by the Interreg North West Europe programme.

How do we do this?

Our goal is to tackle energy poverty. We want to leverage existing solutions and tools to reduce energy poverty. We have been given budget to expand this.

SCEPA does this in 3 phases, also referred to as work packages:

  • In phase 1, the eight partners collect best practices and prepare an action plan to reduce energy poverty.
  • In phase 2, they will put this plan into practice by implementing various measures.
  • In phase 3, the eight partners share outcomes and lessons learned with the rest of Europe.

In Leeuwarden, we will use SCEPA to expand the activities of our Energy Portal and our Energy Coaches. We want to support low-income residents facing energy poverty to take energy-saving measures in their homes.
