Carbide shooting and lighting bonfires
Carbide shooting is only allowed with an exemption on 31 December from 10 am to 6 pm. You can apply for an exemption until 1 December every year. An application is free of charge. Lighting bonfires is prohibited.
The conditions
These are the conditions for applying for an exemption for carbide shooting:
- Apply for the exemption by December 1.
- Carbide shooting is allowed on 31 December between 10 am and 6 pm.
- The property owner must give permission in writing. For example, in a letter.
- Only milk urns with a maximum capacity of 50 litres may be used.
- Carbide shooting is only allowed outside built-up areas.
- There must be 75 metres of clear shooting space. Without any public paths or roads.
- There must be no shooting towards homes.
- The distance from homes is at least 75 metres.
- The distance to animal keeping facilities is at least 300 metres.
- The shooting range is well lit when it gets dark.
- Carbide shooting must not cause danger to persons, animals or the environment.

- Legedyk in Reduzum
- Mûntspaed in Alde Leie
- Nijlânsdyk en Finnedyk in Stiens
- Rounwei 18 in Warten
- Skoallestrjitte 7 in Hijum
- Wergeasterdyk Goutum

Carbide shooting is a fine tradition at the turn of the year. But you have to know what you are doing. Many accidents in carbide shooting can be prevented by a BOCK. You will find more information about this campaign on the website wieisdebock.
