Development framework Sint Vitusplein Stiens
On 7 May 2025, the City of Leeuwarden’s council adopted the development framework St. Petersburg. Vitusplein Stiens.
What does the St. Vitusplein Stiens Development Framework cover?
The City of Leeuwarden offers space in the development framework for plans that align with the regional function of the village of Stiens and the scale of St. Vitusplein. The development framework lays down the principles for further planning.
An important part of drafting the development framework has been the collaboration with the participation working group St. Vitusplein, which included member of Plaatselijk Belang Stiens, Ondernemersvereniging Leeuwarderadeel, local residents, owners and other interested parties. The development framework includes a preconditions map, cross-sections and criteria for the visual quality of the new buildings and public space. The development framework is based on the principles agreed with the participants during the participation process.
The new design of the Skalm site aims to give a boost to the layout and use of both Sint Vitusplein and the surrounding buildings in such a way that the relationships with the church and Langebuorren are also strengthened.
